I’m almost certain this is *[Chelydra serpentina](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_snapping_turtle)*, the Common Snapping Turtle, rather than *[Macrochelys temminckii](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alligator_snapping_turtle)*, the Alligator Snapping Turtle.

None the less, common snappers are still a great find. And they can still get pretty massive, I wrasseled with one that was about 30 pounds. The turtle won…
